Declaration of Faith and Creed
1. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are verbally inspired, inerrant and preserved by God; and that they are profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. (2 Tim. 3:16 & 17; 2 Pet. 1:20 & 21; Psalm 12:6 & 7; Matt. 5:18) 2. We believe in one perfect, infinite, holy, and eternal God, Creator of all things, eternally existent in three Persons Father Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28:19; John 14:13-20; Acts 5:3 & 4; I John 5:7) 3. We believe in Jesus Christ, true God who became true man, God’s only begotten Son. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His sacrificial substitutional death for our sins, His bodily resurrection, and His personal, literal, imminent return. (Matt. 1:18-25; John 1:1, 14 & 29, 3:16, 14:1-3; Gal. 4:4 & 5; Heb. 10:5) 4. We believe that man was created in the image of God; by Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sin nature, and became alienated from God; that man is totally unable to remedy his lost condition apart from God’s grace. (Gen. 1:26 & 27; Rom. 3:22 & 23, 5:10-19; Eph. 2:1-3 & 12) 5. We believe in salvation which is by grace through faith, which is freely available to the whole human race, but received only by those who trust in the vicarious death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 1:12; Rom. 3:24-26, 5:8 & 9, 6:1-6; I Cor. 15:1-4; Eph. 2:8 & 9) 6. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person possessing all the distinctly divine attributes. He is God. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He indwells, regenerates, eternally seals, and baptizes all believers at salvation. He fills only yielded believers. (John 3:1-8, 10:28 & 29, 16:8-14; Acts 5:3 & 4; Rom. 8:1; I Cor. 12:13; Eph. 1:13, 4:30, 5:18; Titus 3:5; I Pet. 4:10) 7. We believe in righteous living and good works, not as a means of Salvation, but as its evidence and fruit. (John 15; Rom. 12:1 & 2; Eph. 2:10) 8. We believe in the Church (the body of Christ, the bride of Christ) which includes all true believers, whose purpose is to glorify God through worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching, witnessing of Christ, observing the ordinances of baptism by immersion, and the Lord’s Table. (Matt. 28:19 & 20; Acts 8:36-39; I Cor. 11:23 & 24; Eph. 2:20, 4:11-16, 5:23-32) 9. We believe in the autonomy of the local church, which is directly accountable to her Head, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 6:1-5, 13:1-3; Eph. 5:23 & 24; Phil. 1:1; Rev. 2:1, 8, 12 & 18, 3:1, 7 & 14) 10. We believe in the bodily, personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ to meet His bride, the Church, in the air. (Matt. 25:31-46; I Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 19:11-21, 20:1-15, 21:1-7) 11. We believe in the importance of the family. With the knowledge that the family was the first established unit in God’s divine order on earth, we are committed to strengthening the family. We will encourage heads of families to nourish and instruct family members in the things of the Lord. We will seek to remain sensitive to this priority and seek to avoid planning such programs that would violate this principle. (Gen. 2:8-25; Eph. 5:22-6:4; Titus 2:1-8) |
